Peanut Butter Wolf presents this debut full length on newly founded Stones Throw offshoot, Circle Star Records. London-based producer Jesse Hackett has the honour of being the imprint’s first stab at an LP and JUNK is a brilliantly puzzling record crafted on a Yamaha PSR-110 found in a heap of recycling… allegedly. Lead single Sacred Oblivion melds a dreamy synth-pop backing with some tripped-out vocals and the occasional reverberated echo just to bring on the shivers. This is what it might have sounded like if Youth Lagoon jumped on the mixing desk for Michael Jackson- pop sensibilities dragged through a kaleidoscopic filter.
