Francesca Belmonte has been collaborating with Tricky for several years, and releases her debut album Anima on False Idols. The collaborative efforts between Belmonte and fellow Bristolian Tricky have led him to wax lyrical about the newcomer’s talents. Having boldly described her as the best person he’s ever worked with, this LP manages to live up to the hype. Hiding In The Rushes is a sinister, dancehall-inflected pop song which lingers in the mind like a cold stare. Lying On The Moon brings in even wider influences with a stripped-down breakbeat backing, Belmonte’s vocal hovers above the mainframe for a featherweight dance track like no other.
