Young Dutch producer Ebbo Kraan drops his monstrous debut EP for Rwina Records, showcasing a unique brand of abstract hip-hop and malevolent broken-beat that is sure to turn a few heads this year. Arriving like the drone of a far-future ritual sacrifice, opener ‘Bag Of Medicine’ sets the scene with ominous weight and tension, before ‘20’ and ‘No Amount’ take everything you thought you knew about grime and rip it to shreds in a shower of squalling, razor-edged filth. ‘Pian808’ is a gentler, more contemplative affair, with melancholy chords lilting over a crackling beat, while closer ‘Thirst’ takes a plaintive loop and douses it in Kraan’s special blend of white-hot distortion.
