Emanating from Loefah’s Swamp81, sub-label Benton Beats inaugurates its new venture with a heavy three tracker from Benton entitled The Callin’. The title cut opens with a nice dosage of warm chord haze, echoing voices and skittered clangs before erupting into a sunken, 90’s breakbeat assault with quaking sub-bass prods. On the flip, ‘Airtight’ draws on a more reductionist ethos, offloading a military-drilled percussive recital that swings hard whilst ‘BBS Madness’ is 90’s jungle nostalgia in full effect. Topping off the rude boy sonics is The Trilogy Tapes head Will Bankhead who this time provides the appropriate artwork.
