This is the latest long-form composition from Holly Herndon in collaboration with choreographer and dancer Cuauhtemoc Peranda. Performed at Stanford University CCRMA (Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics), the piece is a true example of sonic art. Based on the idea of the dancer connecting with the floor, Herndon recrafted Peranda’s physical expression in to something auditory with muscular rolls and heel thuds acting as skeletons for the music to build upon. The piece is remarkably human for something so abstract and a truly singular work of art.
