Electronic explorations and industrial workouts are the order of the day on this compilation from esoteric synth operators Attrition. Over the course of the 20 tracks on display we are treated to a fine selection of later end post-punk, from fizzing synth-stretching experiments to sleep-deprived Joy Division indebted songs of desperation (check 'Twisted' for a bassline straight outta Unknown Pleasures). Modern counterparts could range from the Bristolian industrial dub of Ekoplekz, to the Minimal Wave experiments of Regis. At heart though, this is music of the '80s and the dark grip of Thatcher's Britain. An album firmly rooted in the dirt dug up by originators like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire and a fascinating selection from one of the more unknown production outfits of the industrial scene.
