Sunbathing Animal is the third album from highly regarded Brooklyn-based garage rockers Parquet Courts, who are as comfortable rocking out as they are making you weep. Following the self-released cassette American Specialties and the more widely distributed Light Up Gold, Sunbathing Animal is an assured affair from this four-piece that jolts and amuses in equal measure. From the frenetic 'Black & White' and 'Vienna II' to the melodic 'Dear Ramona' and 'Instant Disassembly', it's an energising listen that belies its cheerful hooks with sardonic wordplay.
