Bristol based UK bass mainstay Joker is back on his familiar outpost Kapsize with another instalment of bass heavy arrangements in the form of the Headtop EP. Across each of the four cuts Joker deploys his bass bin testing frequencies, starting with the quirky bit-crushed noise of ‘Mr Miyagi’ then the stomping, Nintendo-referencing ‘Mario Ting’. Title cut ‘Head Top’ charters darker territory with its boomerang synth noise and slashing chords whilst ‘Deserted Island’ flaunts some anthemic organs and wild, pitched vocal harmonies.
