Swedish group Frak grace the Midlight imprint with its second release, providing two sizeable techno cuts which fulfil dance floor expectations without sacrificing detail. ‘Absorb’ is a masterclass in slow-burning, physical techno, with a hefty 808 jack providing the root from which acid squelches and cold synth string lines begin to grow. B-side ‘Instant Transport’ is more obsessive, with Drexciya-esque broken chords and humming bass drones locking in to a tribal techno percussion line which refuses to let up until the very last moment.
