French beat-maker Fulgeance’s back-to-basics album Step-Thru gets the remix treatment, courtesy of a handpicked set of producers. France’s VECT trades the spacey instrumental of the Fresh Daily-assisted ‘Whut It Iz’ for a soulful, piano-sampling track reminiscent of countryman 20Syl. Moresounds completely restructures the truck ready ‘Wet’ into a manic, juke-inspired evil twin, and Funky Bijou smoothes out the choppy ‘Raw’ adding keys and synth-bass. On Oknai’s bouncy ‘Square’ Remix, the only recognisable element carried over from the album version is the bassline, which the Berlin producer dissects and layers with marching band percussion.
