Set up as a deep techno label in 2011, Truncate became a stage name for David Flores, a southern Californian DJ who recorded so many killer house/techno EPs he probably part-healed the economy through vinyl sales. ‘Pressurize’ marks his debut for Berlin-based 50Weapons and sees him roughing things up with static-spiked glitch beats on ‘Breakdown’, soft 4/4 rhythms sprinkled with synths on ‘Bipolar’ and tribal-sounding bass wrapped around a shuffling techno drum line on the title track. Like a flashback to an uncomplicated ‘90s squat-rave, ‘Pressurize’ is a great way to help you dance off the tension.
