Spectral Sound release a survey of Matthew Dear’s work under his Audion alias, including two new tracks which signal the artist’s intention to revisit this darker side of his output in 2014. ‘Noiser’ provides an unrelenting pulse from which to launch wild laser synth improvisations, while the dry precision of ‘Cloth (Just A Couch)’ impresses in its muscular power, despite its restraint. Elsewhere, ‘Just Fucking’ pits industrial percussion against outrageously rudimentary electronic squeals, and new track ‘Motormouth’ layers a garbling vocal sample over a physical techno template.
