The Scottish electro-soul titans’ tenth LP returns to their rock ideas of 20 years ago, but with a cool, psychedelic twist that was absent from their last album, 2008’s ‘Beautiful Future’. Bobbie Gillespie and chums sound rejuvenated, with ‘It’s Alright, It’s OK’ playing radio friendly pop-rock as carefree as Blur’s ‘Tender’, and ‘Invisible City’ twisting a funky bass line around Gillespie’s hushed vocals and some stabbing synths. A relaxed, irresistible and very long-overdue return.
