Soul funk meets acid guitars in the deliriously brilliant ‘What Would it be like to be Rich’, Rich Ristagno’s 1981 funk odyssey, reissued and remastered by Drag City. With studio owner Conlet Abrams’ local funk band, Soular Flight on board, the funk-heavy recordings move into new dimensions - Soular Flight’s disco tendencies and Ristagno’s angst-ridden vocal delivery seemingly foreseeing the likes of Arto Lindsay’s no wave band DNA and various other contemporaries.
