Housed in another impeccably designed sleeve comes an additional glance back into the GRM archives. With the second edition in their ‘Traces’ series, Editions Mego gather works made prior to 1976, featuring the ‘early’ work of four composers responsible for short or ignored pieces of music that, although forgotten, went on to leave a unique mark on early music experimentation. Included are Dominique Guiot with a piece inspired by the rules of cinematic screenwriting, Pierre Boeswillwald with a finely-constructed and deeply refined piece from 1971, Rodolfo Caesar with a piece resulting from instrumental improvisations and Denis Smalley with a piece from 1974 created by transforming instrumental sounds.
