Named in order to signify a move towards gospel and hymnal influences, Spiritualised returned in 2003 with this 40-minute exercise in saintly garage rock. Marking their fifth full-length, Amazing Grace incorporated wispy jazz influences with the usual no-frills Spiritualized tropes to elevate their sound to whole new levels. Monster singles like She Kissed Me (It Felt Like a Hit) and Cheapster went on define the band’s seminal Glastonbury set the summer following this record. Remarkable, considering the orchestral overdubs and intricate production, that a record like this was completed in a little over a fortnight.
