New York rap duo Armand Hammer make their triumphant return with a new label in Fat Possum and a tremendous new release entitled We Buy Diabetic Test Strips. Fresh off star solo turns from both ELUCID and billy woods, Armand Hammer attacks this new material with an energy and viciousness that defies the roadside humour in its title. Tracks like ‘When It Doesn’t Start With A Kiss’ and ‘Y’all Can’t Stand Right Here’ flash some of the same charms as 2021’s Haram LP (namely the frequent beat switchups and detuned and woozy synths), but find both members with a renewed spirit displaying even crisper, more dexterous flows. This is event level rap at its finest.
