Chilean kraut-cosmists Föllakzoid’s second LP, first cut to wax in 2013, sees light again via Sacred Bones (Moon Duo, Pharmakon). The five lengthy explorations here largely take the same base template - ticking-clock drums, propulsive two-note bass grooves and atmospherics that sound like they’re being beamed in from a dead star - and run with it in different ways. ‘Rivers’, for instance, straps a dem-bow beat onto their signature psychedelics, while ‘Trees’ is a fidgeting and ferocious freakout that bares shades of Thee Oh Sees. Proceedings draw to a close with the quarter-hour ‘Pulsar’, a track which squeezes every last drop of juice from its Neu!-aping groove.
