Electronic music’s history has greatly expanded in the past decade, and The state51 Conspiracy help unlock another piece of the puzzle with The NID Tapes. Compiled by Paul Purgas of Emptyset, this compilation contains rich experiments in sound combining Indian classical motifs and Western canons to create something entirely new. India’s first Moog synth arrived in 1969, with staff, students, and composers eking out of it bubbling, whizzing, growling, snapping sounds. Some tracks are set to the tune of ragas and drones, while others travel at their own completely unique pace.
