Fifth album installment for Luke Slater's Planetary Assault Systems, and an earmark for 15 of years of crushing, machine-funk aesthetics. 'The Messenger' picks up from where the frenetic energy of where his previous Ostgut release, 'Temporary Suspension' left off - from the cerebral, electronic washes of the, 'Railer (Further Exploration)' introduction, to the fully-flexed 909-barrage of 'Rip The Cut' and the bleeping, Dan Bell-esque minimalism of 'Kray Squid'. In Slater's own words, "it's a project that stays very true and honest to the Planetary Assault Systems goal: a journey of discovery, to create new sounds which are not otherwise present in club music at this time" - certainly true, as his role as 'sonic-adventurer' in this album has dutifully been fulfilled.
