One of the great showmen of indie rock makes his return with an album cover fit for the big top, or at least a burlesque club. That’s right, Father John Misty is back with his fifth LP and it’s entitled Chloë and The Next 20th Century. Chloë sees him returning to Sub Pop with all of his usual collaborators for a collection that rivals any of his prior highlights. Singles like ‘Funny Girl’ and ‘Q4’ packs plenty of his trademark incisiveness, while the title track ends the album with a slow-burning cinematic flair. A fine return to form indeed.
