‘Nu-skool’, they call it — but Englishman-in-Dublin producer Paul Cignol continues to occupy a class of his own with Future States EP. After a smattering of awesome electro permutations on Furthur Electronix, Ancient Technologies and Fundamental Records, Cignol lands on Unknown To The Unknown with a sleek, neon-tinted electro EP powered by state-of-the-art hardware jams and cryogenically frozen acid fuel. That said, there’s a distinguishable warmth in Cignol’s craft; ‘Echus Chasma’ delights in its synth melody as much as its robotic vocal phrasing, while ‘Between You And Me’ and ‘Seasonal Flow’ gently charge up their vintage-ish drum programming to a point of speedy delivery.
