While Metronomy may have hit it big with 2011’s The English Riviera, they had actually released a couple of pretty decent records prior to their successful third LP. 2006 debut full-length Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe Me) is altogether zanier than the refined hypnagogic pop sound of Metronomy’s later work, but that is part of its charm. This album is the Coming On Strong to The English Riviera’s Made In The Dark. However, tunes like ‘Trick Or Treatz’ provide a hint of what was to come.
