Bricolage’ is a fitting name for the sound of Damos Room altogether; disciples of Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers development programme, free associative ideas come thick and fast across the wavelengths. The track contains a wry sense of rap flow existing parallel to an industrial thunderclap rhythm. You wouldn’t imagine such a pairing as containing a melodious core, but there it is in Rex Domino’s deadpan verses. ‘Bees’ opens with the same penchant for a killer hook delivered over a stumbling beat; “there’s a gurgling sound in the lost and the found”, opines Domino, invoking a magical realist form of urban disintegration.
