Forever to be entrenched in fashionista circles, The Horrors nevertheless have a damn fine record collection. Where their first record mined a psych/garage lineage this excellent sequel sees them team up with Portishead's Geoff Barrow and Chris Cunningham (!) for a swirling voyage in shoegaze, and atmospheric art-pop. Taking in everyone from MBV to The Fall, New Order and Phil Spector, Primary Colours is a beautifully executed homage yes, but has enough verve and songs to be contender all of its own making.
