Numero Group reissue 4 X A Dream, a highly idiosyncratic and oddly charming 1984 LP from Japanese avant-popster Masumi Hara. 4 X A Dream is comparable to the kind of stuff being delivered by contemporaneous art-poppers like Japan and Talk Talk. Some tracks intimate Balearic disco, funk and new-wave, while others - ‘My Golden Hour’, for instance - are leftfield folk-pop tunes which bridge the gap between Cat Stevens and Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots-era Flaming Lips.
