Bigger Than Life, Chris Stewart’s third LP under the Black Marble banner, is a set of stylised and evocative bedroom synth-pop. These tracks come off like a more low-budget and idiosyncratic rendering of Chromatics and fellow Sacred Bones signees Lust For Youth. There is also a little of Zola Jesus’ synthetic moodiness skulking in the shadows here, though Bigger Than Life always manages to keep its pop sensibility front and centre rather than descending into the darkness.
