While he’s continued to release records at a prolific clip throughout the 2010s, I Made A Place is Will Oldham’s first LP of new songs as Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy since 2011’s Wolfroy Comes To Town. This album contains some of the brightest music Oldham has ever released, his worldly holler often offset by folksy hoedowns and roots-rock struts. Mind you, for those who’ve always preferred him at a darker clip there are still enough portentous ballads here to quench that particular thirst.
