Absorbing almost 40 years of diverse musical interest — from shoe gaze to jazz to dub — Brendon Moeller’s Materialize has many antecedents for a singular ambient record by a veteran of techno. Moeller’s stuck a load of genres in a high speed blender, pulverising them into a viscous paste — a lovely, glowing substance you can pour neatly into a glass. Rather than being the sound of chaos, Moeller’s concoction is a delectably blissful mixture.
