Not Glass is an exciting collaboration between Ecstatic Records regulars Jay Glass Dubs and Not Waving. On their debut LP Forma the pair channel classical (we’re talking Ancient Greece and Rome) literature to create a record of fourth world ambiences, leftfield techno and tense electronic composition. Cuts like ‘Pauper Ubique Iacet’ and ‘Forma Bonum Fragile Est’ bring Vangelis into 2019 with their busy synth runs and unsettling atmospheres. There are shades of musique concrete among the dubwise new-ageisms of Forma’s lengthy opener ‘Fallite Fallentes’, a vibe that is mirrored in closing cut ‘Forma Bonum Fragile Es’. ‘Dum Loquor Hora Fugit ’ applies Not Glass’ sculpted textures to some Timedance-style beat programming.
