Aleksi Perala loads up the serotonin and dopamine levels with Sunshine 3, tuning into twelve new levels of bright electronix on the Colundi scale...

The third release in Aleksi Perälä’s Sunshine series arrives courtesy of Clone offshoot DUB Recordings (Kettel, Marco Bernardi). Sunshine 3 is another collection of bright-eyed, bushy-tailed electro numbers from the Finnish producer. Many of the cuts here are built from Perälä’s signature combination of arpeggiated synthesisers and busy 808s - something that unsurprisingly gives them a bit of a Rephlex feel. The warm and cerebral vibe of many of the cuts, which hints at new age and Gamelan influences, is derived from Perälä’s custom tuning system the Colundi Scale. The Colundi scale allows Perälä to use the pitches between the more standard Western twelve-tone system.
