Xela's new album has a dark nautical theme, right from the pretty disturbing image of drowning people on the cover, down to the story inside the booklet which describes this event. It's more acoustic in sound on some tracks, with lots of background atmospheric horror, and lots of processing, a touch of Victoriana swweps through in 'Linseed' with Grandfather clock chimes, and music boxes mixing it up with acoustic guitar. The standout track is the layered majestic depth of 'the dead sea', but there are plenty of grim thrills along the way, with lots of dark depth and 'Goblins' esque witchy darkness, and strange, darkside intimidating muzak that reminds me of Fabio Frizzi's soundtracks for Lucio Fulci's brutal zombie films.

This is a quality and imaginative electronica album with an interesting theme, one that should not be overlooked.
