The ever-reliable DMX Krew returns to Byrd Out (Roska, Andrew Weatherall) with an EP of electro-funk goodness. Stellar Gateway is brimming with the kind of juicy club fodder that Edward Upton probably knocks out in his sleep these days. ‘Opening Statement’, for instance, is a fantastically funky tune that marries a shuffling deep house groove to the sort of gnarly synths you’d find in a primetime Prince number. Yet again this is some fabulous stuff from DMX Krew.
