    Slime – Company

Track: “At Sea Again (ft. Selah Sue)” This was one of my favorite records (that I actually ordered from Bleep) this last year so it’s really difficult to hone in on one specific track. But if I were going to introduce someone to the project I’d most likely play this one. The syncopation, soft-stabbing vocal delivery, and mixing is something to aspire to.

Track: “Ghetto Kraviz” I have a lot of her records and listen to them a lot when I’m churning through stuff at work. Contagious house/techno records are coming from this gal. The vocal sample in this one will pop up in my head without warning, but I’m not mad about it. :)

Track: Any and all. You can’t go wrong with this one. Her mixes are fantastic as well.

Track: “Pandemic” This was one of the records that I discovered late in the year, but ended up being one of my favorites to play at home. It should honestly be listened to in it’s entirety. It’s visceral, at times almost abrasive, but ultimately a work of art. It keeps me engaged for the entire listen.

    Talbot Fade – November Versions

Track: “November Ghosts” I find a lot of really great stuff on Bleep that doesn’t necessarily show up on my radar otherwise. This is an example of that. The disjointed percussion and droning strings. It’s very storm-like.

Archy Marshall – A New Place 2 Drown

Track: “New Builds” I’ve been waiting on something from him for awhile now, as I’m sure most have. This track is really entrancing, and I wish it would last a little longer. I could listen to it on a loop.

    Lucrecia Dalt – Lucrecia Dalt

Track: “Esotro” I’m a massive fan of hers. When I saw that Other People had put something out of hers I definitely got “grip-sweats” for it and rightfully so. It’s a brooding track that I return to often.

Track: “Infrared (Bague) This is a record that I somehow slept on and discovered it recently. The production is absolutely insane. Such a talented artist that’s making some really interesting records.

Track: “Else” I’ve been a fan of Arca for a bit and bought this when I was in Paris. I listened to it for the first time, on the train from Paris to London. It’s such a beautiful ride and was a really interesting context to have heard this. This is a more subtle moment on the record that I was really caught off, and loved that.

Nils Frahm – Music for the Motion Picture Victoria (Bonus Track Version)

Track: “Them” I can’t get enough of his stuff. I listen to one of his records almost every night. I was thrilled when this was announced. I’ve been digging deeper into sound/music for film and when one of my favorite artists does a project like this, it’s really inspiring. The film has yet to make it over here but I’ll be there when it opens. This track is a very watery, Basinski-like piece. Get lost then find yourself again, within it.

    Laurel Halo – In Situ

Track: “Leaves” I love her work. I play this one a lot when I open the record store alone in the mornings. It’s a very “left field” approach to techno/electronic music.

Micachu and the Shapes – Good Sad Happy Bad

Track: “Suffering” Another one of my favorite records of the year. Mica has been nothing but inspiring for me. This record is really raw, and I think that’s why it works for these songs so well.
