John Tejada shows no signs of slowing up despite clocking more than two decades in the game at this point. His thirteenth studio LP evinces the producer’s continuing desire to push boundaries and find new forms of analog expression. While the record is characterised by the sort of tuneful techno stylings that have become his trademark down the years - ‘Detector’ and ‘Hypochondriac’ are two of the choicest cuts in this lane - Tejada shows great scope across Dead Start Program. Just take opener ‘Autoseek’, a brain-bending polyrhythmic modular workout that initially befuddles, then delights. Anyone who’s been paying attention to his Tin Man project will find more joy in the album’s acid excursions.
