Though Erol Alkan was best-known in his heyday for turning indie-rock bangers into indie-dance bangers, he also had a go at remixing some bonafide dance music from time to time. Strangely enough, this could often result in some of his most erstwhile and least obviously club-orientated music. Case in point: this weird, stuttering IDM going-over of Daft Punk’s ‘The Brainwasher’. Now set to vinyl again as Alkan’s Phantasy label goes about re-pressing some of his best-loved remixes, this comes backed with his jerky version of Chilly Gonzalez’s ‘Never Stop’.
