Erol Alkan’s 2018 jam ‘Spectrum’ gets diced two ways by Paul Woolford. While this release finds Woolford operating under his Special Request moniker, these remixes are not quite as high-octane as some of the other material he has made for the project. Indeed, the halcyon techno pulse of Woolford’s ‘Kaleidoscopic Mix’ has more in common with Daniel Avery’s Song For Alpha than anything on the several LPs that Woolford released last year. The ‘Double Vision Mix’ ups the ante somewhat by reintroducing the original’s insistent lead synth, but by and large this is a more nuanced Special Request outing than what we’ve come to expect .
