It will come as no surprise that one of the most livewire producers out at the moment would bring out such varied results from his associates on this remix EP. Peckham riser Medlar takes a shot at ‘Ar-Raqis’, spinning out the short-but-sweet original into a fine bongo-techno roller. For the flipside we are presented with two versions of ‘Hope’. Paleman’s edit is a propulsive slice of stripped-back club fare, with a bare-bones groove and some carefully orchestrated looping combining to hypnotic effect. By contrast, Japan’s Jun Kamoda reworks the same base material into a six-minute Afro-house slow-burner, squeezing the juice out of the original’s high-life guitars and chunky bass lick.
