Kompakt’s relationship with Marco Haas’s T.Raumschmiere alias goes back to 2000, when the label released the EP Bolzplatz. Seventeen years on and both are older, wiser, but still keen on delivering the finest that German techno has to offer. Enter Haas’s Heimat, an LP that stays true to its four-on-the-floor roots while also incorporating a wider array of textures and tones than Raumschmiere has previously attempted. As such whirling piano loops, strange screes of noise and Eno-style emotive ambiences are all wed to impeccable drum tracking across Heimat’s eight sections.
