Bleep

The follow up to his Escapism EP, which was released on XL Recordings in 2015, Sam Gellaitry returns to the London-born electronic label, with Escapism II. This EP is influenced by bass, trap and instrumental grime, never quite settling on any particular style. Sam takes crisp percussion and distorted vocal samples to create a bright, bouncy sound. ‘Odyssey’ uses echoing synths in a dreamy soundscape. ‘Jacket Weather’ has a warm, sunny feeling, using looped sequences of plucked strings. Like his first of the Escapism series, the varying drum patterns are all rooted in UK bass.
