Sohn (Christopher Taylor) unveils a second album of nocturnal pop wanderings on 4AD. Following two hectic years of touring after his 2014 debut Tremors, the London-born producer took refuge in an isolated house in northern California where he conceived this new album. Entitled Rennen, the German word for run, it refers to his experience of rushing from place to place.

Leaving the stress behind, his gentle falsetto voice is coloured by delightful vocoder effects (’Signal’), and is delivered with a new-found lightness – illustrated on the piano-led title track, the restless dubstep of ‘Falling’ or the catchy gospel of ‘Conrad’. With the voice’s softness taking full effect in the songs' most stripped-down moments, Taylor has advanced his signature technique of turning airy sketches into densely layered, melancholic pop hymns – resulting in captivating dynamics, and Rennen directing a more focused sound than ever before.
