Yet another ‘undiscovered’ gem from the oh so fruitful Nigerian music scene, courtesy of the multi-instrumentalist composer, Tee Mac. Practically unknown outside Nigeria, Night Illusion was originally released way back in 1980 on the artist’s own SKJ Records. The music is purely a timeless concoction of afro soul and boogie funk with some allusions to reggae. Marjorie Barnes’ delectable voice accentuates the prevailing emotion of all the tracks she features on and she’s simply joyous to listen to no matter the mood. His band, Tee Mac & The Afro Collection were famously joined by Cream drummer, Ginger Baker, who came to Nigeria in 1971 to play with them.
