Arguably one of the biggest names in noise music, Masami Akita has been trailblazing his unique brand of sonics under the Merzbow alias since 1979. For An Untroublesome Defencelessness, he teams up with fellow Japanese innovator Keiji Haino and Hungarian drummer Balazs Pandi. Coming in the form of a double LP on Rare Noise (who Pandi has became a sort of 'house' drummer for), the album ploughs its way through all kinds of sonic abstractions, washes of white noise meeting warped vocals and intense improvised drumming styles.
