Inspired largely by the loss of his mother, this epic 2-track exercise into Detroit energy and evolutionary electronic production is a triumph for both label and artist. M.O.M. was recorded almost instantly after DJ Bone lost his mother and – clocking in at over 10 minutes – the number channels all the confusion and distant hopefulness that comes with that kind of tragedy into a miniature opus. The Final Driver continues this introspective, ambitious creative outlook. Both cuts are the most personal DJ Bone has (and most probably ever will) create – a move in the direction of transcending the ‘DJ’ job title.
