After a string of releases on Pennyroyal, J. Tijn returns to the home of his debut EP – WNCL Recordings – with another fine outing on the Half Empty Half Full EP. Now an established member of the scene, Tijn finds himself in dreamier worlds than his more recent outings on A-side jam ‘HEFE’, where crispy drum programming rub up against smudged, introspective chords followed by the ridged groove and feedback hiss of ‘Fat Controller’. Next up, ‘Malaria’ caters to the basement contingent with its club-ready bass drops whilst ‘Decimated #8’ gets the drum machines firing on all cylinders for a tough analogue workout.
