Modernista welcomes Pittsburgh based producer Tom McConnell to the label for the first of a number of forthcoming releases. This first offering works as a solid introduction to the artist. Lead track Sorry Baby paints a picture of an artist with clear intentions who executes them immaculately. There is a certain adeptness and simplicity on show during this cut – the straightforward and infectious synth strings, the powering bass line, the club-facing beats. Nova and Field journey into slightly more esoteric and downtempo but McConnell’s productional dexterity remains at the fore.
