Modernista Records marks its fifth release with this 2 sided coin from Paul Bennett. On Before Off is an eyes-down techno treasure with very little in the way of decoration. This is the kind of cut you could see on the shelves of PAN or L.I.E.S.- minimal, energising and cutting. On the reverse, Bennett has opted for melody to drive the process with an -albeit deep - but largely upbeat and emotive house influenced cut. With numerous arpeggiating synth refrains and a beat that sits somewhere between deep house and samba- Modernista mark half a decalogue with a varied but top quality release.
