Experimental composer William Basinski returns to Temporary Residence for this breathtakingly beautiful piano-based ambient release The Deluge – a variation of Basinski's latest tape-loop and delay composition. The ghostly and vacant sounding composition 'Cascade' showcases Basinski’s commitment to the phantasmal capabilities of repetition and adaptation as a format. What starts as a gentle piano loop becomes the nucleus for a soaring piece of neo-classical composition. On 'The Deluge' the same loop is processed through a series of feedback loops, repeatedly escalating the overtones eventually fade away to silence. A truly impressive and inspiring creation from Basinski once again.
