William Basinski goes back to the very beginning on his latest release, pulling one of his earliest creations out of the archives with The Clocktower At The Beach. Originally composed in 1979, Basinski takes tape loops of “night shift factory recordings and broken 1950s televisions” and stretches them into oblivion. Cold, howling winds paint a spacious and deserted landscape, before spectral tones emanate from thin air, diving into an all encompassing atmosphere like the force of a grand choir submerged in the deepest of trenches.
