Mr. Mitch’s Gobstopper imprint upholds its reputation for showcasing new and left-field talents in grime with this release from London-based producer Tarquin. Having already had airtime on Rinse and NTS as well as cosigns from heavyweights like Plastician and Mickey Pearce, this double-header shows a producer ready to take flight. Kid U almost plays out like a grime beat that has been reassembled after dissection- a kind of hyperreal patchwork of clipped hi-hats and stuttered vocal samples. Lost My Marbles is a little more eyes-down with a fast-lane beat pacing ahead from the off but the same overarching ethos of experimentation and off-centre composition.
